all over the place
There’s a lot I like about this photo I took in Sydney in spring of this year. Look at those buildings! Narrow, with commercial space below and housing above, detailed with care and colourful. They are Sydney’s version of the ubiquitous colonial shophouse. Then there’s the pub in the foreground and the warehouse in the distance; this street has diversity, an essential ingredient of all living places. There’s a safe, separated bike lane claiming street space back from cars with its friendly green tones. Speaking of cars, from the glimpse of the car parked in the bottom-left you can judge that the space given over to car travel on this street is really quite narrow, which slows them down and makes the street safer for everyone. Finally there are the trees - Sydney always surprises me with its lushness.
I’m a bit all over the place, aren’t I? As I wander the streets both near and far, my head is constantly full of thoughts. It is my hope to record (and, perhaps eventually share) some of those thoughts here.
